About Knacklore
Pattern decks: practical moves for work and life, one card at a time.
What it is
Knacklore is a library of pattern decks. A pattern is a move that has worked for many people before you, written down so you can use it on purpose: a way to run a decision, open a hard conversation, test an idea or plan a week. Each deck gathers the patterns for one area, sorted into suits.
Who it's for
Anyone who wants a practical next step rather than a theory: people leading teams, making products and games, selling, writing and speaking, and people looking after their money, their relationships and themselves.
How the cards are written
- Evidence first. Cards rest on research or on well-established practice, and say what a move can't do as well as what it can.
- Original. Every card is written from scratch for Knacklore. Established methods keep their names and their credit.
- Plain English. Short sentences, a concrete example on every card, and a pitfall to watch for.
How to use a deck
- Pick a card. Each suit opens with a question. Answer it and you're in the right suit; pick the card that fits.
- Follow a recipe. When the job is a familiar one, a recipe gives you the cards in order.
- Run a mission. For a bigger piece of work, a mission walks you from where you are to a finished result.
Also for Claude Code
The decks also exist as a Claude Code plugin, so an assistant can suggest the right card while you work. It isn't available to install yet.
